Crime Cover Directory
Last updated 31 August 2026
WHO IS RESPONSIBLE
Crime Cover Directory is owned and operated by Andrew Benington trading as SuperPowerSeven, who is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can contact me at [email protected].
This service is a private directory for criminal defence professionals. It is not a service for the general public and membership is by application.
WHAT I COLLECT
When you apply to join, and when you maintain your profile:
- Your first name and surname
- Your professional status, and whether you hold police station or court accreditation
- Your DSCC PIN, if you provide one
- Your email address, and your phone number if you provide one
- Your employment status
- Your preference for how you are contacted
- The name, address, telephone number and email address of your organisation if provided
- A home address or work address, if you choose to add one to your details
- Your password, stored only as a cryptographic hash and never in readable form
When you publish your availability:
- The court or police station you select, or
- The latitude and longitude of your phone at the moment you choose Here
- The start time and the expiry time of that availability if set
When you use the service:
- A session token, stored only as a hash, to keep you signed in while you use the app
- The member(s) you mark as favourites or colleagues, so that they are ordered first in your searches
- If you use facial recognition or fingerprint login, this creates an encrypted passkey on your phone which avoids you having to enter login details for our application only. This encrypted passkey is recognised by our servers.
LOCATION
This is not a tracking app. It is a cover directory.
Recording location. You set this once, either by setting the court or police station you are present at, or by having the app record your gps coordinates. This is saved as your location. If you go elsewhere your recorded location does not change until either the default time out is activated, you cancel your entry, or you set another location.
Location is x miles from a venue. So if you are at y court you will show as 0 miles from that court and, if you chose, your distance in miles from other venues.
HOW LONG IT IS KEPT
Location and availability, including any coordinates, is deleted automatically at timeout:
- Court availability is wiped at 16.30
- Police station availability is wiped after 4 hours
- GPS coordinate entries are wiped at midnight
Your membership details are retained until you delete your membership whereupon all data is automatically deleted. You can amend any details. Your previous details are not retained.
WHO CAN SEE YOUR LOCATION
Other members searching for cover can see your availability for their selected venue, your name, professional status, accreditations, organisation, and chosen contact details. They see this only while your availability stands.
Administrators of the service can see application details in order to approve applications and maintain the directory.
PASSKEYS AND BIOMETRICS
If you add a passkey, only its public key is stored on the server. Your fingerprint or face is never sent to the service and never leaves your device. The passkey is bound to superpowerseven.com and cannot be used anywhere else.
SHARING
I do not sell, rent or trade your data. I do not use advertising networks and the app contains no third party analytics or tracking.
Two service providers process data on my behalf: the hosting provider that runs the server, and Resend, which delivers outbound email such as application correspondence. They act on my instructions only.
YOUR RIGHTS
Under UK data protection law you may ask for a copy of the personal data I hold about you. Please note the only information we hold is that which is on your membership details page which you can access, amend or delete any time. If you wish to be provided with copy of this data by me, have your details deleted by me, or have your details amended by me, email [email protected] and I will respond within one month.
If you are not satisfied with my response you may complain to the Information Commissioner at ico.org.uk.
SECURITY
Passwords and session tokens are stored as hashes. The site is served over TLS. I will use my best endeavours to protect your data from cybersecurity threats using commercially available security.
Your part in protecting your data is to use a long and complicated password, and not to share it.
CHANGES
If this policy changes, the revised version will appear on this page with a new date at the top.
CONSENT
By completing an application for membership you are consenting to the above terms.
